As a, repair plumber, I have been in situations that relate to this issue. It was not hard to recognize–
"A chip on their shoulder" I rarely found this in the senior citizen but when I did this is how I dealt with their negativity.
Simple compassion—Which leads to: How do I get that chip off, at least for the moment. So how do I get them–on my side. Show them that you care, by putting yourself in their shoes. How would you feel, not being able to do the simplest of chores.
Here’s something you could say to them—-Did you every figure out how to have any fun doing household chores? Or–remember when you and mom where doing these? Did you do them the way she taught you or the way you could have fun doing them?
You’ll be surprised with the results you attain and make this job a whole lot better for both of you. Once this chip is gone–whole new ball game.
Yeah they are always wanting you to hurry up and pay attention. Real Hassle.
Some people have specific ways they wish chores done, I do the work the way they want it done.
I always liked elderly clients, no problems.
As a kid I used to hold a ladies goat while she milked it. I am 69 and have Parkinson’s. I have a staff that take care of me. A housekeeper/cook who runs my household. A personal Valet who covers over what I can no longer do. My hardest part in all of this is, that they will never do as I would do, or when I wish it done. This I must get over and realize that they are doing the best for me as they can. It hurts me that I can no longer do for myself.
Yes I have when I was working as a home care assistant. I always found the people very grateful especially when they couldn`t do the tasks for themselves. Some people were a bit finicky about certain things but hey . . so am I!
