Great question. My wife is an occupational therapist who loves working with the elderly and listening to their life history.
I wish I was more that way, and obviously I hope to treat all people with respect. But inside I sometimes get annoyed with the elderly because I am usually in a hurry and they go so slow.
Maybe you asking this question can sparke a change.
I view the elderly with respect.
I like older people just fine. I just don’t get many opportunities to interact with them, and I’m worried they’ll assume I’m up to no good because I’m a teen.
There is beauty in age and a whole lot of wisdom. Older people have had more life experience which can make them quite smart. Remember, with any luck, we will be old one day too. People need to keep that in mind when interacting and dealing with them.
I find beauty in age, also wisdom… just think what they have lived through? Flight for one!
Because people see what they want to. I personally think we could all learn from the elderly.
of course theres beauty in age!! they r the foundation of part of history!! and they’ve been through so much in their lives! elderly ppl may be old, but they r wise. and just b.cuz they’re old doesnt mean they cant b beautiful! i ttly agree w/ u. stop negatve thoughts towards elderly!!!
I use a mirror.
Unfortunately, people are too self centered to find beauty in others. The biggest problem is that in this fast paced world, elderly tend to move too slow and people get frustrated.
Yes there are some who think of the elderly as beatiful. Young idiots and a-holes do grow up so eventually they will be old not all old people are evil but some are
road hazards
I definitely see beauty in the elderly. There’s a gentleness, wisdom, and complete understanding that shows in the knowing twinkle in their eyes. They seem to know just how you feel even when you don’t know what you are feeling. Their mere presence is of surety and grace and they have a certain confidence about them…
5pm until around 10pm. Im a bartender and then i view young adults untill 3 am
It wasn’t until I lived with my grandparents during college that I truly appreciated the elderly. My grandfather was amazing! He had such an amazing life and I’m thankful everyday that I was able to listen to his stories about our family and his philosophy on life. My grandmother, who is still alive and doing great at 89 years young, is my favorite person in the world! She loves college basketball, an occasional glass of beer, and the television show "Cops!" She’s an absolute riot!
There is definitely beauty in age, but many young people don’t see it because they feel so removed from it. For many, aging is one step closer to death. We don’t have to look at it that way. Age should be looked at as a badge of honor!
I, for one, am looking forward to getting older–and hopefully wiser!
I don’t discriminate them because of their age. Like anyone else, they can be smart, stupid, friendly, or a dillhole. Age doesn’t make me respect you, who you are is what I choose to respect.
The beauty in the elderly is… if you live long enough to enjoy it. I’m sure so many young people think all kinds of things about older people. When you’re young you think you’ve got the world in the palm of your hand. And you really do. But so many young people are wanting to do so many things that sometimes they don’t accomplish that much. They are working to make a living and maybe thinking about saving for those retirement years. It can be hard to do both but if you can save just a little every week or month; you will find that it adds up when you need it if you leave it alone. Retirement comes so quickly. Nobody is going to take care of you when you get old so you need to plan for it yourself. You will be so glad that you did.
Maybe some people view elderly people with negative feelings because they know that if their health holds up they will be one of them in a few years.
I view the elderly just fine. I am in the early stages of it. I look forward to doing so many things that I wanted to do when I didn’t have the time.
What do you consider elderly? I may be a candidate at 54 but I still see myself as a youngster.
So if I am elderly I guess us old farts trying to act or dress like the young people can be extremely criticized.
Driving that fancy sports car may look out of place also but who cares that reaction time and vision are slightly impaired….life allows those oldies to be goodies
Because people view age as a disease.
Youth thinks that it will never be old because it will be such a long time before they are old.
Of course, youth also doesn’t know that time speeds up relatively as you get older…and it’s not as far away as they think.
