My husband is 23yrs and has been type 1 diabetic since the age of 7yrs. Normally his health has been relatively good, but with his recent diabetic review has been told he has exceptionally high cholesterol. He was previously a vegetarian, but the doctor believes his change in diet over one year has nothing to do with the sudden rise, and puts it down to stress at work. This is also stopping the production of creatine, essential for muscle development and maintenance. He is fit and exercises by running on average 10 miles a day (to and from work) and eats home grown veg and lean meats etc. What are we doing wrong I wonder? Stress really can kill! Does anyone have any advice on what more we can do to drop his cholesterol in a healthy manner? At the moment, we cannot reduce his stress at work, but maybe someone has good advice for anti stress tips at home or particular foods and exercises specifically designed to lower cholesterol? He also has a heart murmur, so we are even more keen on lowering the cholesterol levels. Most grateful to any help. Thank you.
From a wife that wants her husband to stick around.
