I have been trying to cook for someone, but her appetite is low due to her age and a number of illnesses. She’s more inclined towards fried meats, but that causes detriment to her health. She’s an asian and prefers "asian food" in general, but is not above trying "western foods"
Is there a general guideline to work with?
I hear that creamy foods are generally out for aged people due to their palette right?
My husband is 23yrs and has been type 1 diabetic since the age of 7yrs. Normally his health has been relatively good, but with his recent diabetic review has been told he has exceptionally high cholesterol. He was previously a vegetarian, but the doctor believes his change in diet over one year has nothing to do with the sudden rise, and puts it down to stress at work. This is also stopping the production of creatine, essential for muscle development and maintenance. He is fit and exercises by running on average 10 miles a day (to and from work) and eats home grown veg and lean meats etc. What are we doing wrong I wonder? Stress really can kill! Does anyone have any advice on what more we can do to drop his cholesterol in a healthy manner? At the moment, we cannot reduce his stress at work, but maybe someone has good advice for anti stress tips at home or particular foods and exercises specifically designed to lower cholesterol? He also has a heart murmur, so we are even more keen on lowering the cholesterol levels. Most grateful to any help. Thank you.
From a wife that wants her husband to stick around.
I have a 15 year old cat, and she isn’t in the best of health, but she gets around just fine. About 2 days ago, I’ve noticed that when she jumps up or down from somewhere, she can’t seem to keep her balance as well. She wobbles a bit from side to side, and sometimes falls over. This is only when she jumps somewhere.
Could this be something serious, or is it just part of aging?
She’s not fat. She’s only 5lbs.
should a 32 health male that has sustained a left hip fracture 8 yeas ago, and still has pain with no relief, with sings os post injury arthritic complications, and leg length deference by 3/4 inch. have hip replacement surgery. keep in mind he is a great candidate fir this surgery, the only factor keeping him from surgery is his age. if he was 56 or so he would be in the or.
side note. he has tried all conventional methods of treatment.
pain meds, anti inflammatory, pt, ot, pain management, nero rehab, walking device, and diet, with no relieve. and a hip replacement usually last 15 – 20 years before needing replaced.
Should a hip replacement be used as a as alliterative, evan know his age.
I have early teen and preteen girls, and wanted the opinion of others on which type of milk to buy (from a health prospective) for my children.
I currently buy 2%, but was considering switching to 1% or nonfat. Any opinions on what to buy for that age range?
also….Don’t bother answering with any anti-dairy comments. I have already researched, considered and dismissed any idea of eliminating dairy from my children’s diet.
As anti-oxidents have been proved to be the best way to safeguard against many diseases such as cancer and disabilities such as macular degeneration, people should take note that by eating a more vegetarian styled diet they could enhance their wellbeing. All sufferers of age related macular degeneration are told by doctors to eat vegetables rich in anti-oxidents.
This is one area of food intake I knew nothing about until I got AMD. I now eat a more vegetarian diet nowadays and my health has improved. My cholestrol has come right down to below the acceptable level.
I doubt the population at large knows anything about anti-oxidents. Perhap`s the government should take this on board and educate people in better ways of eating. People will eat what they want or like but it´s about choice.
Does anyone have a view on this subject or know anything about anti-oxidents.
I already have "health deterioration." Please, be as clear as possible and elaborate on your point.
